Dot - The World's Smallest Stop-motion Animated Character

The newly-launched Nokia N8 boasted one of the best cameras available on any smartphone. We chose to showcase the creative potential of its 12 mega-pixel, high-definition capabilities by working with Aardman to create "Dot", a Guinness World Record breaking stop-motion animation film. The film features a tiny 9mm tall heroine who wakes up to discover her tiny magical world unravelling around her. Rapid prototyping printers were used to create 150 tiny characters in different replacement poses. The special lens attached to the Nokia N8, used to capture each miniscule frame, was inspired by a real-life invention called t he CellScope – a microscope device attached to a Nokia handset used to help analyse blood samples and diagnose fatal diseases in remote locations in third world countries.
